Confession

Confession (Kokuhaku) is a standalone psychological thriller manga written by Nobuyuki Fukumoto and illustrated by Kaiji Kawaguchi.

The story follows two former university mountaineering club members, Ishikura and Asai, who are caught in a life-threatening accident while climbing a remote, snow-covered mountain. Convinced he is about to die, Ishikura suddenly admits that he once killed another member of their group years earlier. Moments later, the two men manage to find shelter and survive — but the confession cannot be undone.

From that point, the narrative becomes an intense psychological battle. Trapped together in isolation, suspicion grows as Asai begins to question whether Ishikura will do anything to protect his secret. What starts as a survival drama quickly turns into a tense exploration of fear, guilt, and shifting power between two men cut off from the outside world.
