Traveling Practice

Set in the spring of 2020, Traveling Practice follows a novelist and his young niece as they make their way on foot through the Japanese countryside towards Kashima. With the pandemic beginning to alter everyday life around them, the pair pay close attention to the world they pass through, from the landscape and wildlife to the small encounters along their route. Gentle and reflective, Yusuke Norishiro’s novel explores travel, memory, writing and human connection, finding meaning in the seemingly ordinary details of a journey.
